Search continues for child believed to have drowned in Baggao river

Search and retrieval operations were underway Tuesday for a child believed to have drowned in the Pared River near Barangay Poblacion, Baggao, Cagayan, local disaster officials said.

The child, who lives in Barangay Masical, was reported missing around midday on October 13, 2026. The Baggao Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office was leading the search, with assistance from representatives of Barangays Masical and Poblacion.

Responders were searching the area where the child was believed to have entered the river. Local offices and barangay officials continued coordinating their efforts. No outcome had been confirmed at the time of the report.

Authorities urged parents and caregivers to keep children under close supervision near rivers and other bodies of water. They also advised against allowing children to approach or swim in potentially dangerous areas without an adult present.
