QCPD relieves police clearance chief, probes viral complaint
The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) is investigating a viral social media post alleging an interruption in police clearance services at Quezon City Hall on 12 October, prompting the relief of its Police Clearance Section chief from the current assignment.
“The QCPD takes these concerns seriously and is undertaking appropriate measures to establish the facts surrounding the incident,” the city police district said.
“Based on initial verification and available transaction records, police clearance transactions reportedly continued during the period in question under the office’s alternate lunch-break arrangement,” it added.
The QCPD reported that the arrangement is intended to ensure the continuous delivery of frontline services, consistent with Republic Act No. 9485, or the Anti-Red Tape Act of 2007, as amended by Republic Act No. 11032, or the Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Government Service Delivery Act of 2018.
The QCPD maintained that it upholds the highest standards of professionalism, accountability, and courtesy in public service.
“Pending the outcome of the investigation, the Chief of the Police Clearance Section shall be relieved from the current assignment as an administrative measure, without prejudice to the determination of any administrative liability,” it stated.
“Any personnel found to have violated applicable laws, rules, or regulations shall be dealt with in accordance with due process,” the QCPD added.
The QCPD urged the concerned individual to submit a formal complaint and any supporting evidence to assist in establishing the facts, noting all relevant circumstances will be evaluated fairly and objectively.
