P3.6 million in suspected shabu seized, two arrested in Iligan City
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — Anti-illegal drug operatives arrested two suspects and seized an estimated P3.6 million worth of suspected shabu during a buy-bust operation in Purok 6, Palm Court, Barangay Tomas Capili, Iligan City, on Tuesday afternoon.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Northern Mindanao office said in a report that two suspects, aged 34 and 33, were arrested after a brief firefight that resulted in one suspect being wounded in the right leg.
The two suspects allegedly agreed to sell shabu to an undercover agent but sensed they were dealing with law enforcement officers, prompting one of the suspects to pull out a .38-caliber revolver. The suspect was subsequently shot in the leg.
The other suspect tried to flee on a motorcycle but was cornered by responding law enforcement officers.
Recovered from the suspects were 540.8 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P3,677,440, a sling bag, two smartphones, a .38-caliber revolver with three live bullets and a motorcycle.
The anti-illegal drug operation was carried out by PDEA Lanao del Norte, the PDEA Special Investigation Unit, the PDEA Regional Special Enforcement Team and Iligan City Police Station 2.
The wounded suspect was brought to a hospital for treatment and later taken to the PDEA provincial office with the other suspect, pending the filing of criminal charges before the city prosecutor's office.
