Van Sickle roars in Nxled return
Nxled welcomed ace winger Brooke Van Sickle’s return with a quick work of PLDT, 25-16, 25-20, 25-18, for a rousing start in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Season 10 All-Filipino Conference Siklab series Tuesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Back in uniform after seven months of rest due to a minor right shoulder injury, Van Sickle finished with 11 points in just two sets of play to lead the Chameleons.
The former Season Most Valuable Player scored 10 of her points on kills and added eight digs for Nxled, who are fresh off a runner-up finish in the season-opening Invitational Conference.
“Yeah, it's really good to be back. I mean, no athlete likes to be injured, right? So, during the time, I mean, it was really tough at moments, but I had the support of my coaching staff and our teammates, too, and management and ownership,” the Fillipino-American said.
“So, the process was bittersweet. They made it, you know, they supported me every step, so it was easy that way.”
Myla Pablo and Jackie Acuna added nine point each while EJ Laure-Carino and Jonah Sabete scored seven each for Nxled.
Gel Cayuna tallied 14 excellent sets to help the Chameleons score 50 attacks while adding seven markers.
The High Speed Hitters struggled on their offense with Savi Davison finishing with 10 points on a low 8-of-43 spiking clip.
Del Palomata had nine markers while Kim Kianna Dy and Majoy Baron were limited to just three and two points for PLDT.
