Cris Cross halts AFP
Defending champion Criss Cross made a strong statement in its title-retention bid after manhandling Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), 25-15, 25-14, 25-12, in the Spikers’ Turf Season 10 Invitational Conference on Tuesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Five-time Most Valuable Player Jude Garcia got his game going right on the opening serve as he finished with a game-high 13 points in the King Crunchers’ 78-minute victory.
Garcia smashed seven kills with four kill blocks and two aces while tallying five digs in an all-around performance for Criss Cross, which joined opening-day winner Alpha Insurance.
“We applied everything that we’ve trained for in the past months. Everything that coach Tai (Bundit) taught us showed on the court, although there were still lapses that we need to address,” Garcia said.
“But we got a good result and took the win in straight sets.”
Amil Pacinio finished with eight points while Noel Kampton and Paul Colinares chipped in six points each in just two sets of play each for the King Crunchers.
