Former amateur standout Mark Ashley Fajardo made a rousing professional debut over the weekend in General Santos City.

Fajardo, now fighting under JC Mananquil’s SanMan Promotions, blew away Ajay Bustamante in the first round of their welterweight bout.

A bronze medalist in the Southeast Asian Games, Fajardo, just 21 years old, decided to become a pro after taking part in the Asian Under 23 championships held in Jakarta last July.

By hooking up with SanMan Promotions, Fajardo made sure that he will get access to big fights here and abroad.

First to see Fajardo’s potential was American dealmaker Sean Gibbons, who was delighted by the Cebu-born fighter’s explosiveness.

“He’s definitely a big puncher,” exclaimed Gibbons.

Apart from punching power, Fajardo also boasts of a solid skill set and imposing physique.
