Duterte, Robredo, Tulfo lead 2028 presidential bets — Pulse Asia
Vice President Sara Duterte, Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo and Senator Raffy Tulfo emerged as the top three choices in a hypothetical three-way race for president in the May 2028 elections, according to a Pulse Asia survey released Monday.
The "Ulat ng Bayan" national survey, conducted through face-to-face interviews from 17 to 24 September, found that 52 percent of Filipino adults would vote for Duterte against Robredo who garnered 30 percent if the elections were held at the time of the survey, while Tulfo received 14 percent.
Department of National Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. and Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Vince Dizon each received 1 percent, while Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong registered 0.3 percent.
Meanwhile, 3 percent of respondents were undecided, another 3 percent said they would not support any of the listed presidential candidates, and 1% declined to identify their preferred candidate.
The survey results varied across geographic and socioeconomic groups.
At least half of respondents in the Visayas (55 percent), Mindanao (94 percent), Class D (50 percent) and Class E (70 percent) preferred Duterte over Robredo or Tulfo.
In Metro Manila, Duterte and Robredo received statistically comparable preference ratings of 42 percent and 39% percent, respectively. In the rest of Luzon, Robredo led Duterte, 39 percent to 31 percent. Among respondents in socioeconomic Class ABC, Duterte received 47 percent, compared with Robredo's 37 percent.
Despite the May 2028 national and local elections being about 20 months away, 89 percent of Filipino adults said they were interested in the upcoming electoral exercise, according to the survey.
Interest in the elections remained high across geographic and socioeconomic groups, ranging from 85 percent to 97 percent across geographic areas and from 87 percent to 89 percent across socioeconomic classes.
