Two men killed in separate Quezon shootings
Security guard on way to work and man walking home gunned down hours apart in Tiaong and Buenavista
QUEZON — Two men were shot dead in separate incidents in Tiaong and Buenavista towns on Saturday, 10 October, prompting police to launch manhunt operations against the gunmen.
The first shooting occurred at approximately 5:20 p.m. along Maharlika Highway in Barangay Lagalag, Tiaong, where a 49-year-old security guard was killed while traveling to work.
According to the Tiaong Municipal Police Station, unidentified assailants approached the victim, identified only as “Bok,” and shot him several times.
The gunmen fled toward Barangay Talisay aboard a black Rusi motorcycle without a license plate.
Police requested assistance from scene-of-crime operatives, issued a flash alarm and initiated dragnet operations. Investigators are also reviewing available CCTV footage to identify the attackers.
Nearly three hours later, another fatal shooting was reported in Barangay Bulo, Buenavista.
Police said a 29-year-old man, identified only as “Loto,” was walking home at around 8 p.m. when a suspect aboard a gray Toyota Vios approached and allegedly shot him several times in the back using a caliber .45 pistol.
The victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds and died from his injuries.
Buenavista police identified a 33-year-old mechanic, known as “Salto Jr.,” as the suspect, who remained at large as of the police report.
Authorities launched hot-pursuit operations, interviewed witnesses and began reviewing CCTV footage to establish the circumstances surrounding the attack.
Police have yet to determine the motive behind the Tiaong killing, while the circumstances surrounding the Buenavista shooting remain under investigation.
