Uncle arrested over alleged rape
The Manila police have arrested a 38-year-old laborer accused of repeatedly sexually abusing his 12-year-old niece in Tondo, Manila.
Police identified the suspect as alias “Roland P.,” who was arrested on Friday at 1:35 p.m. outside his residence in Barangay 20, according to P/Capt. Mark Xyrus Santos of the Manila Police District Station 1.
Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 38 Presiding Judge Thea Bunye Medina issued the arrest warrant on 8 October.
The court recommended bail of P540,000 for three counts of acts of lasciviousness under Article 336 of the Revised Penal Code and P480,000 for four counts of rape through sexual assault under the second paragraph of Article 266-A of the Code, as amended by Republic Acts 8353 and 11648.
No bail was recommended for two counts of qualified rape of a minor under Republic Act 8353 in relation to Republic Act 11648.
Police said the suspect allegedly abused the child when her parents were at work. He also allegedly threatened to kill members of the family if they reported the abuse to authorities.
