The Philippine national women’s football team suffered a 1-2 defeat to hosts Peru in their first friendly match at La Videnita de Chincha in Chincha Alta on Saturday.

Raquiel Bilcape struck in the opening minute, beating Filipinas goalkeeper Olivia McDaniel with an easy tap-in to give the hosts an early lead.

The Filipinas drew level in the 20th minute when Peru’s Brenda Meier scored an own goal, but Bilcape delivered the decisive strike in the 84th minute after dribbling past three Philippine defenders.

The match was the first of two friendlies against Peru as the Filipinas prepare for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.

The loss extended the Filipinas’ scoring drought since Skye Leach scored in their 5-1 defeat to China at the 20th Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan, last month.

The Philippine side has gone scoreless in its last two matches.

The Filipinas will face Peru again on 14 October at the same venue.
