CEBU CITY --- Defending champion Creamline made quick work of Akari, 25-18, 25-21, 25-18, for a strong start in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Season 10 All-Filipino Conference Siklab series on Saturday at the SM Seaside Cebu Arena here.

The 11-time champion club celebrated the league’s 10th anniversary with another milestone, with an arena record of 19,106 gate attendance.

“We’re very happy because Creamline was again part of PVL history. We’re happy that Creamline’s a part of it, plus we won,” Cool Smashers head coach Sherwin Meneses said.

All 12 scoring players contributed points, with Jema Galanza posting a game-high 16 points on 11 kills, three kill blocks and two aces for Creamline.

Ten-time Best Middle Pangs Panaga scored five of her seven points on kill blocks while Michele Gumabao finished with six markers, including the game-winning kill to end the one-hour, 35-minute encounter.

“It’s great that the PVL has adopted an (all-to-play) system because everyone in the team deserves to play,” said Galanza, who also had 14 excellent receptions and six digs.

Ishie Lalong-isip and Bea De Leon had five markers each while Alyssa Valdez added four markers in just two sets of action for the Cool Smashers

Ivy Lacsina was the lone Chargers player in double figures with 12 points.
