Epson urges businesses to look beyond printer price
Epson Philippines is urging businesses to consider electricity, ink and maintenance costs when assessing office printing expenses, saying the purchase price alone may not reflect the long-term cost of operating a printer.
The company said its PrecisionCore Heat-Free Technology eliminates the need for heat during the ink ejection process, unlike conventional laser printers that use heat to bond toner to paper.
Applicable Epson Heat-Free models can use up to 85 percent less power and require up to 59 percent fewer replacement parts than comparable laser printers, based on company comparisons. Actual results depend on the printer model and operating conditions.
“Businesses should not have to choose between operating more efficiently and reducing their environmental impact,” Epson Philippines marketing head Noelle Gonzalez said.
Epson also highlighted cost per page as another consideration for businesses with large printing requirements.
The company said its WorkForce Pro EM-C8100 and EM-C8101 have estimated ink costs of P0.75 per color page and P0.23 per black page, while the WorkForce Enterprise AM-M5500 costs an estimated P0.18 per black page.
The estimates cover ink costs based on suggested retail prices and ISO page yields, excluding paper, electricity, maintenance, replacement parts and the printer itself.
Epson said businesses should evaluate total printing expenses over a device’s lifespan rather than focus solely on upfront hardware prices.
