Regional rape suspect nabbed in Lucena City

LUCENA CITY, Quezon — Police arrested a regional-level most wanted person facing a rape charge during a manhunt operation in Barangay Gulang-Gulang on Wednesday, 7 October.

The suspect, identified as alias “Venancio,” was apprehended at approximately 12:30 p.m. in Josephine Subdivision following information provided by a local community leader.

According to the Quezon Police Provincial Office, personnel of the Lucena Component City Police Station received information from a purok leader regarding the suspect's whereabouts.

Police immediately coordinated with the Regional Intelligence Unit 4A, Regional Mobile Force Battalion 4A, Quezon Maritime Police Station and 2nd Quezon Provincial Mobile Force Company to carry out the operation.

The suspect was arrested by virtue of a warrant for rape under Criminal Case No. 2008-657, issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 54 in Lucena City.

The warrant, dated 6 December 2017, was issued by Presiding Judge Rodel Victor C. Marcon, with no bail recommended.

Authorities said the arrest was documented using an alternative recording device.

The police report did not specify when the alleged offense occurred or provide further details about the rape case.
