DOST Central Luzon reviews two Smart City innovation projects in Nueva Ecija
The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Central Luzon reviewed two innovation projects under the DOST Smart and Sustainable Communities Program (SSCP) at the Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology Sumacab Campus, Cabanatuan City on 6 October 2026.
The review of the two Smart City innovation projects was led by the DOST Nueva Ecija and are part of the agency’s efforts to advance smart and sustainable communities in Region III.
DOST-Central Luzon Regional Director Dr. Julius Caesar V. Sicat led the review of project updates and provided technical recommendations to guide the implementation of initiatives addressing urban mobility and data-driven governance in the province.
Implemented in partnership with NEUST, Central Luzon State University, and the Local Government Unit of Science of Muñoz, the projects include Project ANGELA, which explores technology-enabled and hybrid mobility solutions, and SCDI- Hub, an AI-driven platform designed to integrate data and support evidence-based local governance.
DOST-Nueva Ecija Provincial Director Dr. Leidi Mel B. Sicat also joined the project review, reinforcing DOST’s engagement with academic and local government partners in translating research and innovation into practical community solutions.
Through the SSCP, DOST-Central Luzon continues to provide science, technology, and innovation interventions that help communities become smarter, more sustainable, and more responsive to local needs.
The SSCP is a flagship strategy that helps local government units (LGUs) use science, technology, and innovation to transform into future-ready, resilient, and inclusive communities.
The core goals of the SSCP include: Digital Transformation, by using Information and Communications Technology (ICT) to make public service delivery and local governance smarter; Inclusive Growth, by building solutions that benefit all citizens; and Partner Collaboration, by partnering with agencies like DILG, DICT, and DAP to support regional growth.
