Five men were arrested and around 3.5 grams of suspected shabu worth P23,800 were confiscated during a police operation early October 6 in Dagupan City, Pangasinan.

The operation was conducted from 4:19 a.m. after Police Station 6 received a cellphone report from a concerned citizen about an alleged ongoing drug session in the area.

Police said responding personnel, together with the reportee, proceeded to the location to verify the information. Upon arrival, they allegedly found the five suspects engaging in a drug session and sniffing suspected shabu.

The suspects, aged 18 to 47, were identified as residents of Dagupan City and San Fabian, Pangasinan. Their occupations included painter, security guard, helper and construction workers.

Police confiscated three heat-sealed transparent sachets containing suspected shabu, along with a bundle of empty sachets, a digital weighing scale, four lighters, an improvised burner, four improvised tooters, two pairs of scissors and aluminum foil with residue.

The suspects were informed of their constitutional rights in a language they understood.

Police said the seized items were marked and inventoried at the scene in the presence of the suspects and mandatory witnesses, in accordance with law.

The suspects are expected to face charges under Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, subject to the findings of the investigation and appropriate legal proceedings.
