Cainta, Rizal Mayor Keith Nieto has upgraded a facility that serves a temporary shelter to street dwellers, transients, and homeless individuals.

"I will ensure that every facility we build is treated with dignity," said Nieto, referring to a community shelter at the West Bank Floodway built around 7 years ago.

The shelter serves a temporary refuge for those with nowhere to sleep at night, providing them with basic needs such as food, clothing, and hygiene support.

"That is the facility where we take the homeless individuals and street dwellers who are picked up nightly by our teams using the vehicles I donated to transport them, ensuring they are fed, bathed, given medical care, and provided with shelter," Nieto said.

However, during his walkthrough, the mayor observed that the sh0elter lacked a proper reception area, noting that it only used curtain dividers.

"I thought of making a few improvements for those who want to reach out, visit, and help. I called up our architect to get started on the design," Nieto said.

"One month later, this is now the status of our shelter reception office—it is nearly complete. It brings a sense of dignity to its users, most of whom are underprivileged and poor," the mayor added.
