CAAP, BI partner to further advance aviation safety, security
The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has partnered with the Bureau of Immigration (BI) to further advance aviation safety, security, and facilitation.
The two agencies signed a memorandum of understanding on Tuesday, 6 October, at the BI main building in Intramuros, Manila.
CAAP Director General Retired Lt. Gen. Raul Del Rosario and BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado signed the agreement, which provides a framework for cooperation on aviation safety and security, support during irregular operations, air transport facilitation, information coordination, and joint training and capacity-building.
The partnership also supports the implementation of Executive Order No. 122, which institutionalized the Advance Passenger Information (API) System.
“Our responsibility goes beyond the infrastructure we operate. It extends to the confidence of every passenger who relies on Philippine aviation. That confidence is built on safety, strengthened by security, and sustained through cooperation,” Del Rosario said.
“As our nation faces complex security challenges, the institutional relationship between the BI and CAAP facilitates a whole of government approach that will help ensure that the Filipino citizens and foreign nationals enjoy safe travel,” Viado said.
The memorandum of understanding underscores CAAP’s continuing commitment to future-proofing Philippine aviation by strengthening safety, security, efficiency, and whole-of-government coordination.
