BDO Unibank Inc. is upgrading its payments infrastructure with Finastra’s Global PAYplus platform as the bank prepares to handle growing transaction volumes and expand its ability to connect with domestic and cross-border payment networks.

Strengthens payment processing capabilities

Finastra said the deployment strengthens BDO’s payment processing capabilities while improving automation, operational efficiency and interoperability across the payments ecosystem.

BDO currently uses Global PAYplus for Swift and inbound PESONet processing and is the largest commercial bank in the Philippines using the platform.

The system combines high-value and mass-payments capabilities, giving BDO a scalable platform for current and future payment requirements. It also provides rule-based processing that allows the bank to adjust operations as payment standards and networks evolve.

Critical enabler of commerce, economic activity

“Payments are a critical enabler of commerce and economic activity, making resilient and scalable infrastructure increasingly important,” said Carlo B. Nazareno, head of Cash Management Services at BDO.

“By enhancing our payments architecture with Finastra’s Global PAYplus, we have strengthened our ability to support growing transaction volumes, improve operational efficiency, and adapt to evolving market requirements. This provides a strong foundation for delivering a seamless client experience today while supporting future innovation across the payments ecosystem,” Nazareno said.
