110 new CAAs boost 4ID security force
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — The Philippine Army’s 4th Infantry Division has added 110 newly trained Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Unit Active Auxiliaries (CAAs) to strengthen its community-based security force in Northern Mindanao and Caraga.
The new CAAs completed the CAA-I Basic Military Training at the 4th Division Training School in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon, on Tuesday.
They will serve as force multipliers for regular Army units, helping secure vital installations, gather local information and support law enforcement operations within the 4ID’s area of responsibility.
The training focused on basic military knowledge, skills and discipline, while preparing the auxiliaries to use their familiarity with local terrain and communities in support of security operations.
Maj. Gen. Marion Angcao, commander of the 4ID, described the CAAs as key community-based frontliners.
“As frontliners, you are one of the most important forces of our Armed Forces. Because of your experience, knowledge of the area, and courage, you make a significant contribution to protecting our communities,” Angcao said.
He also called the CAAs the Army’s “lead scouts,” saying they are often among the first to detect developments in communities and guide regular forces in responding.
“You are our lead scouts, the first to see, the first to recognize the situation, and the first to guide our forces toward the right and safe direction,” he said.
