Gateway Art Fair extends exhibition until 11 October
Art enthusiasts have more time to explore works by Filipino artists as the Gateway Art Fair exhibition at Araneta City has been extended beyond its original four-day run.
The exhibition, which was initially scheduled from 1 to 4 October, will remain open at Quantum Skyview, Upper Ground B of Gateway Mall 2, giving visitors another opportunity to view and purchase works featured in the fifth edition of the annual art fair.
Araneta City lists the Gateway Art Fair as extended until 11 October, with the exhibition located across the Gateway Mall 1 and 2 activity areas.
The 2026 edition brought together more than 200 Filipino artists and art groups from different parts of the country, making it the biggest edition of the fair since its launch in 2022. Reports on the event placed participation at about 240 to 250 artists and participants across 36 booths.
The fair features a wide range of visual works, including paintings, sculptures, mixed-media pieces and installations, giving both established and emerging artists a platform to reach audiences outside traditional galleries.
Among the participating groups are Yaru Nu Artes Ivatan, Voyage: Mindoro Artists Group, UST College of Fine Arts, Artistica PH, Pugad in Art Studio and Female Art Addicts.
Art installations are also displayed around Gateway Mall 2. These include works exploring the struggles of commuting, art and sustainability, and an interactive installation designed with pets in mind.
Beyond the exhibition itself, this year’s fair featured workshops and talks intended to make visual art more accessible to the public. Activities included mandala-making, collaborative drawing, soft sculpture, and relief and rubber cutting, while experts and artists from the University of the Philippines College of Fine Arts also took part in discussions on art and education.
The fair also introduced the first Gateway Art Fair Awards, recognizing participating artists in categories including the Gateway Art Fair Masterpiece Award, Breakthrough Artist Award and Exhibit of the Year Award.
The event is presented by the J. Amado Araneta Foundation, Gateway Gallery and Araneta City, and co-presented by Metrobank, with partnerships supporting the fair’s programs for artists and the wider creative community.
The Gateway Art Fair forms part of the J. Amado Araneta Foundation’s broader effort to create opportunities for Filipino artists and promote greater public access to art.
Admission to the original fair was free, with the exhibition staged at Quantum Skyview in Gateway Mall 2.
