First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos last week underscored the importance of women’s voices in the regional bloc as she attended this year’s ASEAN Women Leaders Summit. The following day, she took time to visit a place of relaxation for women.

“A real girl power moment at the welcome banquet for the 4th Asean Women Leaders Summit. It was inspiring to be surrounded by women leaders, advocates, and friends from across ASEAN — each bringing her own story, strength and vision for our region,” Marcos wrote on her official Facebook page after gracing the event at the EDSA Shangri-La on 29 September.

The ASEAN Women Leaders Summit is a high-level regional gathering designed to strengthen commitments to gender equality and women’s leadership across the Asean member states.

“What I loved most was seeing so much warmth and purpose in one room. When women are given the opportunity to lead and when their voices are heard, they can help build stronger communities and a stronger ASEAN,” she said.

She extolled chairperson Ermelita Valdeavilla “for bringing us all together, and Foreign Secretary Tess Lazaro for her inspiring words.”

“Here’s to empowering more women to help move ASEAN forward,” she added.

Relaxing place

Meanwhile, the First Lady stressed that every woman deserved to be pampered now and then.

“So happy to join my dear friend Kat Pimentel and her wonderful team for the opening of the Alpina Lounge and Wellness Spa in BGC. I was amazed by all the services they have to offer, and even more impressed by the little details they thought of to make everyone feel relaxed, comfortable, and right at home,” she wrote after gracing the launch at the One Uptown Mall in Bonifacio Global City on 30 September.

“Wishing you and the entire Alpina team lots of success in this beautiful new venture. And yes, I may have to come back for some pampering myself!” she added.
