Koreans blast Gilas girls

Woes continued to pile up for Gilas Pilipinas Women after they suffered an 70-86 loss to South Korea in the FIBA Women’s U18 Asia Cup at the Karisma Arena in Seremban, Malaysia last Monday.

Lim Yeonseo erupted for 30 points as the Koreans joined Australia at the top of Group A.

South Korea broke the game open in the second quarter after Lee Sohee drilled a three-pointer with 6:33 remaining to spark a 15-2 run, turning a slim 27-24 lead into a 42-26 advantage.

Song Eunji then gave the Koreans their biggest lead at 19 points, 48-29, after hitting another triple with 34 seconds left in the half.

South Korea took advantage of its quickness throughout the game, scoring 16 fastbreak points and 19 points off turnovers.

Lee added 25 points and seven rebounds, while Cho Heeeon finished with 14 points for the Koreans.

Tiffany Reyes led the Philippines with 11 points in a losing effort.
