SM Sports and Leisure expands multi-sport facilities nationwide with P1B investment
SM Supermalls is strengthening its commitment to making active lifestyles more accessible to Filipinos with a P1-billion investment in multi-sport facilities and active social hubs across the country. These new spaces will give communities more opportunities to play, compete, connect, and make active living part of their everyday lives.
“More and more Filipinos are embracing active lifestyles. SM Supermalls will be at the forefront of this movement and help lead the way. We aim to make fitness and wellness accessible and inclusive to everyone, whether you are just starting your journey or are an advanced athlete. We will build vibrant communities within our malls where everyone can make active living part of everyday life,” said Steven T. Tan, SM Supermalls President.
SM Supermalls’ new active hubs will feature tournament-grade sports facilities designed to meet international standards. These venues will accommodate both recreational activities and high-level competitions, giving beginners, enthusiasts, and experienced athletes opportunities to enjoy a variety of sports programs while sharing their passion for play, health, and wellness.
With facilities being developed in communities across the country, SM Supermalls aims to bring Filipinos closer to quality sports infrastructure while creating spaces where they can build new memories and become part of a growing, active community.
SM Supermalls’ Sports Leadership
The P1-billion investment builds on SM Supermalls’ long-standing commitment to sports and recreation. Since the 1990s, SM Supermalls has developed sports venues and hosted events that encourage Filipinos of all ages and skill levels to stay active. It has organized workshops, tournaments, and other activities as part of its continuing effort to make fitness more accessible and inclusive.
This latest initiative further strengthens SM Supermalls’ position as the country’s largest mall-based sports and active lifestyle network. Today, it has 108 pickleball courts, 176 bowling lanes nationwide, and three Olympic-sized ice skating rinks, providing spaces where professional athletes can hone their skills and enthusiasts can pursue their favorite sports.
“Active living and wellness are not new to SM Supermalls. For more than 30 years, we have consistently organized events and created spaces that bring Filipinos together through sports. We will continue this commitment by expanding our presence and bringing these opportunities to more communities,” Tan said.
Every year, thousands of athletes, families, and barkadas visit SM Supermalls’ active facilities to develop their skills, pursue their passions, and enjoy time together. These communities create meaningful active experiences in welcoming and inclusive environments. Through regular training sessions and mall-led events, participants develop their abilities, build new connections, and become part of communities that stay active together.
Moving forward, SM Supermalls will continue to work alongside the Filipino active community in promoting healthier and more active lifestyles. Through this investment, it aims to empower more communities to discover new experiences, pursue their passions, and work toward their wellness goals.
