A 25-year-old resident of Barangay Bagbag, Quezon City, was arrested minutes after he allegedly attempted to shoot a businessman along Sauyo Road at around 8:30 p.m. on 1 October 2026.

Patrolling policemen from the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Talipapa Police Station (PS 3), upon hearing a gunshot, responded to the area and arrested the suspect, identified as alias “Mark.”

Reports said a businessman was outside his business establishment when the suspects arrived aboard a blue Honda Click motorcycle and parked nearby. The businessman confronted them, prompting one of the suspects to allegedly draw a firearm and fire a shot at the victim, but missed, before fleeing on foot.

Responding police officers on patrol in the area heard the gunshot and immediately proceeded to the scene, resulting in the arrest of alias “Mark,” who was reportedly attempting to escape aboard his motorcycle.

Recovered from his possession were a Taurus firearm loaded with two live rounds of ammunition and approximately 24 grams of suspected shabu, with an estimated value of P163,200.

PS 3 Commander P/Lt. Col. Patrick Rasmillano said further verification also revealed that alias “Mark” had previously been charged with violations of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and robbery.

The arrested suspect will face appropriate legal proceedings for attempted homicide and alleged violations of RA No. 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, and RA No. 9165 before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.

QCPD Acting District Director P/Brig. Gen. Christopher Olazo said a manhunt operation is underway for the apprehension of the suspect’s cohort.

“This incident highlights the importance of regular patrolling and police visibility in our communities. A timely police response can prevent further harm, lead to the immediate apprehension of suspects, and help maintain peace and order in our communities,” Olazo said.

Meanwhile, operatives of the QCPD Masambong Police Station (PS 2), led by P/Lt. Col. Edgar Riding Escreza, arrested alias “Tristan,” 46, a resident of Barangay Langkaan, Dasmariñas, Cavite, following a robbery incident at a gasoline station along EDSA in Barangay Katipunan, Quezon City.

At around 11:30 p.m. on 1 October, the victim, a Grab driver, was inflating the tire of his Toyota Avanza at a Shell gasoline station when two male suspects aboard a black Honda Click motorcycle allegedly approached him.

Alias “Tristan,” who was reportedly the backrider, allegedly pointed a firearm at the victim and declared a hold-up. The suspects then allegedly took the victim’s black shoulder bag containing P640 in cash and two identification cards before fleeing aboard the motorcycle.

The victim immediately sought assistance from police officers conducting patrol and police visibility operations in the area. A brief pursuit ensued, during which the suspects allegedly lost control of their motorcycle and fell to the ground, resulting in the arrest of alias “Tristan.” His alleged cohort escaped on foot.

Recovered from the arrested suspect were the victim’s stolen belongings, a black shoulder bag reportedly belonging to his cohort, a short firearm replica with one magazine, and the motorcycle allegedly used in the robbery.

The arrested suspect will be charged with robbery before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.

“This incident underscores the importance of police visibility and vigilance in our communities. We will continue to maintain an active police presence and respond swiftly to ensure the safety and security of our communities,” Olazo said.
