Mariska Hargitay condemns Cornell 7
Heated Rivalry actor Hudson Williams also posted a strongly worded condemnation of the allegations and called for those responsible to face legal consequences.
Mariska Hargitay is making her voice heard beyond the fictional investigations of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit as sexual assault allegations involving former Cornell University fraternity members continue to generate public outrage.
The actress, who has spent more than two decades playing Special Victims Unit detective Olivia Benson, used her social media platform to amplify messages demanding accountability over the alleged 2024 assault of a female Cornell student.
One of the posts shared by Hargitay pushed back against concerns about jeopardizing the futures of men accused of drugging and sexually assaulting women. She also circulated messages urging bystanders to contact authorities when they witness or become aware of sexual violence.
Another post highlighted allegations involving a fraternity group chat, where dozens of members were reportedly present as messages concerning women were exchanged.
Hargitay’s decision to speak out reflects an advocacy that has long extended beyond her television career.
In 2004, she established the Joyful Heart Foundation, an organization created to support survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence and child abuse. Her work with survivors has since become closely intertwined with the public platform she gained through SVU.
The Cornell case centers on a woman identified in court documents as Jane Doe, who alleges that she was sexually assaulted at the Chi Phi fraternity house in 2024.
According to her lawsuit, she had been drinking at a local bar before going to the fraternity house, where she alleges she was given ketamine and later assaulted by several men. Seven men are named in the civil case.
The allegations have since prompted renewed scrutiny of the case and the circumstances surrounding the fraternity.
One of the men named in connection with the allegations, Diego Sarabia, reportedly lost his job following renewed attention to the investigation. Another man named in the lawsuit, Scott Kretzschmar, has denied the allegations against him.
Hargitay is not alone among entertainment personalities publicly reacting to the case. Heated Rivalry actor Hudson Williams also posted a strongly worded condemnation of the allegations and called for those responsible to face legal consequences.
As authorities examine the case, the claims against the men remain allegations and have yet to be established in criminal court.
