About 120 delegates from Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) member clubs across Asia and the Pacific gathered in Boracay for the FIA Asia Pacific Congress, focusing on road safety, sustainable mobility and greater accessibility in motor sport.

Hosted by the Automobile Association Philippines (AAP), the three-day congress ran from 29 September to 1 October, bringing together member clubs for discussions on mobility and motor sport across the region.

The congress focused on road safety, innovation, sustainable and accessible transport, tourism and the changing needs of road users. Motor sport sessions also covered ways to increase participation, strengthen grassroots competition and create more accessible pathways into the sport.

FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem said the Asia-Pacific region is central to the future of mobility and motor sport, with member clubs playing a key role in addressing road safety and expanding participation.

“The FIA Asia-Pacific Congress gives us an important opportunity to bring that expertise together, share ideas and strengthen collaboration across one of the most diverse and dynamic regions in our Federation,” Ben Sulayem said.

AAP president and FIA Region II president Augustus “Joe” Ferreria said hosting the congress in the Philippines would allow member clubs to share knowledge, identify common challenges and develop solutions for the region.

The FIA has 246 member clubs across five continents, representing more than 80 million members. Its Asia-Pacific initiatives include programs on road safety and innovation, while the region also hosts motor sport events at various levels of competition.
