Quezon City Police District (QCPD) officers arrested a suspect shortly after he allegedly attempted to shoot a local businessman along Sauyo Road, recovering a handgun and illegal drugs at the scene.
Patrol officers from the QCPD Talipapa Station (PS 3) responded after hearing a gunshot at around 8:30 p.m. in Barangay Bagbag.
According to a police report, a businessman confronted two men on a blue Honda Click motorcycle parked near his establishment.
One of the men allegedly drew a handgun and fired at the businessman, missing him, before trying to flee.
Responding patrol officers intercepted the 25-year-old suspect, identified by his alias, Mark, as he attempted to escape on the motorcycle.
Officers recovered a Taurus handgun loaded with two live rounds and approximately 24 grams of suspected shabu valued at P163,200.
PS 3 Commander Lt. Col. Patrick Ramillano said a background check showed the suspect had prior charges for robbery and violations of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The suspect faces complaints of attempted homicide, illegal possession of firearms, and drug possession before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
QCPD acting director Brig. Gen. Christopher Olazo said police have launched a manhunt for the second suspect who fled on foot.
In a separate incident three hours later, QCPD Masambong Station (PS 2) officers arrested a 46-year-old man following a robbery at a gasoline station along EDSA in Barangay Katipunan.
At around 11:30 p.m., a ride-hailing driver inflating his tires at a Shell station was approached by two men on a motorcycle.
The passenger, identified as alias Tristan, allegedly pointed a replica firearm at the driver and demanded his belongings, taking a shoulder bag containing P640 and identification cards.
The driver flagged down nearby patrol officers, prompting a pursuit. The suspects lost control of their motorcycle and crashed, allowing officers to apprehend the passenger while his accomplice escaped on foot.
