The perfect fit: Japanese bespoke shoe brand steps into the Philippines
Japanese bespoke shoe brand Hoshino will bring its made-to-measure approach to the Philippines, giving local footwear enthusiasts the chance to experience shoes crafted around the individual foot.
Founded by shoemaker Shunji Hoshino, the brand places fit at the center of its work. Rather than simply choosing a size from an existing range, Hoshino creates or adjusts lasts — the forms used to shape shoes — according to the wearer’s feet and preferences. The brand offers both women’s and men’s footwear, from pumps and sandals to dress shoes and sneakers.
Hoshino’s bespoke process also reflects the time involved in traditional shoemaking. Bespoke orders include fittings before the final pair is completed, while the Royal Order option allows for a completely new last and design.
For its Philippine debut, Hoshino will hold a trunk show at Makati Shangri-La, Manila from 15 to 17 October, according to the brand’s current schedule. The event will offer orders for both women’s and men’s shoes, with house-call services also listed.
For Filipino customers used to buying shoes off the shelf, Hoshino’s arrival offers a different way to think about footwear — one where the starting point is not only the design, but the person who will wear
