Sarah Geronimo to resume work next year
After receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Film Development Council of the Philippines during the Closing Ceremony of Philippine Film Industry Month (PFIM), boss Vic del Rosario Jr. was cornered by entertainment media, who all queried about Sarah Geronimo, who is obviously “missing in action” in showbiz.
“Sarah Geronimo, next year magtatrabaho na. ‘Yun lang ang masasabi ko (Sarah Geronimo, she will work next year. That’s all I can say),” he said.
“Ayaw kong magalit (siya) sa akin. Parang alam na naman ng tao na hindi siya puwedeng magtrabaho. ‘Yun lang. Sa ngayon ay hindi pa siya puwedeng magtrabaho (I don’t want her to get mad at me. It’s like the people know that she can’t work. That’s all. For now, she still can’t work),” he said.
Rumors of late suggest that Geronimo is pregnant with her first baby with husband Matteo Guidicelli. Although the rumor remains unverified, as neither Geronimo nor Guidicelli has gone public with an admission, most netizens believe the PopStar is really in an interesting stage.
Moira dela Torre’s postponed concert stirs buzz
Moira dela Torre’s supposed 4 October concert at the SM Mall of Asia Arena is not pushing through as scheduled. It has been postponed to next year, according to Ovation Productions.
There was no reason given as to why the concert, MOIRA: Where It All Started, was not pushing through, as the production team only said that the details of the new date and other updates will be announced later.
This had netizens yakking against the singer. All they were reduced to believing was that less impressive ticket sales led to the concert’s postponement.
“Mahina benta ng ticket. Kaya dapat alagaan ng artists ang image nila, ‘yan ng foundation ng career nila. Pag may problema wag nang palakihin makipag ayos para hindi mainis mga tao (The ticket sales are slow. That’s why artists should take care of their image, as it is the foundation of their career. When there’s a problem, don’t make it bigger; make amends so that people will not get irritated,” wailed one guy.
“Sino ba kasi gusto pumunta sa concert para ma-bored. Wala nagpakita na sya ng katamaran nya sa Showtime. Gusto ng audience maski paano game sa mga request ‘yung hindi na dapat pilitin at pa antay. Bye boring!!! Haha (Who would want to go to a concert to get bored? No, she showed her laziness on Showtime. The audience wants someone who is game with their requests, not one who should be forced and have people waiting),” another guy opined.
Musings on Puregold Cine Panalo awards night
There is some sense of predictability in how winners were presented at the latest edition of the Cine Panalo Awards Night.
The nominees were first announced, and the last name to be read turned out to be the winner for each category.
It happened when Juan Karlos won Panalong Aktor for Mono No Aware in the Full-Length Film category. He was the last actor named among the nominees, and he won.
This was repeated when Zanjoe Marudo was announced as Pinakapanalong Pangalawang Aktor for Apol of My Ai.
Panalong Pangalawang Aktres Momoko Kobayashi (Mono No Aware) was the last name to be announced, and just like that, she won.
We think that this process is deliberate, and it certainly creates an atmosphere of predictability.
But that’s not all.
The biggest shock during the awards night was the acting showdown between Xyriel Manabat (Stuck On You) and Sassa Gurl (Multwoh) in the best actress category. It’s good that Manabat took the Panalong Aktres Full-Length Film Category trophy.
How on earth can a gay performer even be nominated in the best actress category?
Is Puregold Cine Panalo Awards Night trying to be controversial?
Can anyone from this award-giving body explain this shenanigan?
