Armed man arrested with P16.5K suspected shabu, .22 revolver in Palawan
Police arrested a 36-year-old man and recovered a .22-caliber revolver and around 2.44 grams of suspected shabu during an operation in Barangay Maasin, Brooke’s Point, Palawan on September 30.
Police said the operation stemmed from a report about a man allegedly carrying a firearm inside a boarding house in the area.
Responding officers proceeded to the location to verify the report and allegedly saw the grip of a short firearm protruding from the suspect’s partially open black belt bag.
The man was subsequently arrested, while a search led to the recovery of a .22-caliber revolver, three sachets containing suspected shabu, a digital weighing scale, scissors, a battery and 12 empty sachets.
Police estimated the total weight of the suspected shabu at 2.44 grams, with an estimated Standard Drug Price of P16,592.
The seized items were inventoried and marked in the presence of the suspect and insulating witnesses, including a media practitioner and an elected barangay official, police said.
Palawan Police Provincial Director PCOL Joel D. Casupanan said authorities would continue operations against illegal drugs and firearms in the province.
“Walang puwang sa Palawan ang ilegal na droga at armas. Mananagot ang sinumang lalabag sa batas,” Casupanan said, adding that police operations would be intensified to help maintain peace and security in local communities.
The arrested suspect and recovered evidence were placed under police custody for appropriate disposition and the filing of charges.
