Two delivery riders arrested in Makati drug bust

Two food delivery riders were arrested in a buy-bust operation in Makati City early Tuesday, with police seizing about 36 grams of suspected marijuana or “kush” valued at P50,400.

The Makati City Police Station said its Drug Enforcement Unit conducted the operation at about 2:55 a.m. along Faraday Street in Barangay San Isidro.

Police identified the suspects by their aliases “Tutoy,” a ride-hailing rider, and “Kervin,” a delivery rider.

An undercover police officer allegedly bought a sachet containing suspected dried marijuana from the suspects during the operation. Other operatives then arrested the two men.

A subsequent body search yielded four additional self-sealing plastic sachets containing suspected dried marijuana, police said.

Police also recovered a genuine P500 bill used in the operation and a black-and-gray Yamaha Mio I motorcycle.

The seized substance had an estimated total weight of 36 grams and a standard drug price of P50,400, according to police.

The two suspects are being held at the Makati police station's custodial facility while authorities prepare complaints for alleged violations of Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
