Police seize gun, suspected shabu in Bacolod search

Police recovered a firearm, ammunition and suspected shabu during the implementation of a court-issued search warrant in Barangay 2, Bacolod City, on 27 September.

Personnel from Police Station 2 of the Bacolod City Police Office served the warrant against a suspect identified only as alias “Rom,” an unemployed resident of Purok Kagaykay.

The operation stemmed from reports that the suspect had allegedly threatened unfamiliar individuals whom he believed were police assets while carrying a firearm.

Police said surveillance and verification later showed that the suspect was not a licensed firearm holder, prompting authorities to secure a search warrant.

The search yielded a firearm, ammunition and sachets containing suspected shabu weighing about 25 grams with an estimated standard drug price of ₱170,000.

The seized items were inventoried and documented in the presence of required witnesses, police said.

“This operation shows how credible information, proper verification, and lawful police action can prevent firearms and illegal drugs from becoming a greater threat to the community,” PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said.

“Malaking bagay ang pakikipagtulungan ng mga mamamayan sa pagpapanatili ng seguridad sa kanilang lugar,” he added.
