Japanese fugitives deported
Bureau records indicated that both individuals had also overstayed their visitor visas in the Philippines.
The Bureau of Immigration (BI) deported four Japanese nationals wanted in their home country for alleged financial fraud schemes, turning them over to Japanese police escorts on Tuesday.
Immigration authorities confirmed Wednesday that the four suspects were repatriated aboard a Japan Airlines flight from Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 in Pasay City.
Two of the deportees, Takumi Oi and Sho Okada, were arrested by immigration officers on 28 April 2026, after authorities confirmed active arrest warrants issued by the Kokura Summary Court in Japan for alleged fraud.
Investigators reported that Oi and Okada participated in a scheme impersonating law enforcement officers to defraud victims. Bureau records indicated that both individuals had also overstayed their visitor visas in the Philippines.
The other two deportees, Yuki Sugita and Yuta Takahashi, were subject to outstanding arrest warrants issued by the Omiya Summary Court for fraud under the Japanese Penal Code and were likewise cited for overstaying.
All four individuals were deported under summary deportation orders issued by the bureau and placed on the immigration blacklist, prohibiting them from re-entering the country.
