DENR-EMB logs 'very unhealthy' air in Metro Manila

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Environmental Management Bureau (DENR-EMB) recorded poor air quality in six Metro Manila cities on Wednesday morning.

According to the DENR-EMB-NCR, the decline in air quality may be due to thermal inversion.

The observed haze may be associated with smoke and transboundary haze from ongoing fires in Kalimantan, Indonesia, which prevailing winds may have transported to the Philippines, as well as other local sources.

"The DENR-EMB is continuously monitoring air quality levels through its network of air quality monitoring stations to assess the extent and potential impacts of the haze."
