BI deports four Japanese fugitives

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) said Wednesday it deported four Japanese nationals wanted for alleged fraud in Japan.

BI turned them over to Japanese authorities following their repatriation on Tuesday, 29 September.

The four were flown aboard a Japan Airlines flight from the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 in Pasay City, escorted by personnel of the Japan National Police Agency.

The first two deportees, Takumi OI, 31, and Sho OKADA, 27, were arrested by immigration authorities on 28 April 2026, after verification that they were subjects of outstanding warrants issued by the Kokura Summary Court in Japan for alleged fraud in violation of the Japanese Penal Code.

The two were reportedly involved in a scheme in which they impersonated law enforcement officers to facilitate financial fraud. BI records also showed that they had overstayed in the Philippines after failing to extend their authorized period of stay.

The other two deportees, Yuki SUGITA, 39, and Yuta TAKAHASHI, 45, were likewise found to be subjects of outstanding warrants issued by the Omiya Summary Court for alleged fraud under Japan’s Penal Code. They were also found to have overstayed their authorized period of stay in the Philippines.

All four were covered by separate summary deportation orders issued by the BI and were subsequently turned over to Japanese authorities for appropriate legal action. NEIL ALCOBER
