Transport group welcomes LTFRB fare adjustment for TNVS drivers

A national transport coalition commended the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) for approving fare adjustments for Transport Network Vehicle Service (TNVS) drivers and other public transport operators.

The United Transportation Coalition Philippines, Inc. (UTCPI) described the regulatory agency's decision as a critical lifeline for thousands of ride-hailing drivers who have faced shrinking margins due to high global fuel prices and prolonged urban traffic congestion.

UTCPI president Lisza Buscaino-Redulla cited that the approval follows years of formal petitions, regulatory hearings, and stakeholder consultations aimed at stabilizing driver incomes and keeping ride-hailing operations viable.

Acknowledging the burden on passengers, coalition leaders appealed to the commuting public for understanding regarding the higher rates, citing widespread economic pressure from inflation and rising household costs.

The transport group stated it will continue monitoring fuel price movements and collaborate with the LTFRB and the Department of Transportation to maintain balanced policies for both transport workers and passengers.
