SSS brings services closer to OFWs

The Social Security System (SSS) brought its programs and digital services closer to overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) during the three-day SSS Global Kabayan Day held from 12 to 14 September in Hong Kong.

The activity, held as part of SSS’ 69th anniversary celebration, allowed OFWs, pensioners and members of the Filipino community to receive assistance, learn about SSS programs and raise concerns directly with agency officials.

One of the services highlighted was the MySSS Card, with SSS assisting members in applying for the card through partner banks, including Rizal Commercial Banking Corp. (RCBC). The card serves as an SSS functional identification card and is linked to a bank account that can be used for receiving SSS benefits, loans and other proceeds.

SSS also highlighted its LoanLite program, a digital microloan facility that gives qualified members access to P1,000 to P20,000 in short-term financial assistance. The program allows repayment terms of 15, 30, 60 or 90 days and is available to eligible OFW members through participating financial institutions.

RCBC, through its digital banking arm DiskarTech, assisted OFWs with MySSS Card applications during the event and introduced its upcoming rollout of SSS LoanLite.

The Global Kabayan Day formed part of SSS’ efforts to make its services more accessible to members abroad. SSS said the Hong Kong activity was the first time its annual OFW Day and Pensioners’ Day activities were brought together in an overseas setting.
