PNP enhances digital warrant system

The Philippine National Police (PNP) is expanding and strengthening its electronic warrant platform to eliminate unserved arrest warrants and accelerate criminal prosecutions, PNP chief Police General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said Tuesday.

The technological upgrade aligns with directives from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla to reduce administrative delays in executing court orders.

“The use of digital technology supports our enhanced police operations that seek to prevent delays and eliminate unserved warrants, which adversely affect the prosecution process,” Nartatez said in a statement.

“Our goal is to ensure that every warrant is acted upon promptly, accurately, and in accordance with the law,” he added.

The PNP highlighted the system’s operational impact following the 25 September interception of an outgoing passenger at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1.

Authorities stopped the suspect under an Alert List Order and used the e-warrant database to confirm a standing arrest warrant for theft dating back to 2015.

Nartatez added that field units are intensifying real-time digital coordination with local courts, the Department of Justice, and the National Bureau of Investigation to verify court orders instantaneously and streamline law enforcement operations.
