Pasig inks pact for startup mentorship, tech incubators

The local government of Pasig City signed separate agreements with the Department of Science and Technology-National Capital Region (DoST-NCR), the SCALE NCR startup consortium, and the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) to expand the city’s technology and startup ecosystem.

Under the initial agreement, Pasig’s Local Economic Development and Investment Office will collaborate with DoST-NCR and SCALE NCR to map out local innovation gaps, assess market opportunities, and establish funding priorities for emerging technology enterprises.

SCALE NCR, a regional network of business incubators backed by the DoST-Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development, facilitates resource-sharing among incubators to aid early-stage ventures.

A secondary partnership between the city’s investment office and the PUP PYLON Technology Business Incubator will offer academic and technical support to municipal-endorsed innovators.

PUP PYLON TBI will provide business coaching, laboratory research support, and incubator infrastructure, while assisting city hall in developing data-driven policies for local entrepreneurship.

City officials cited that these agreements build upon Pasig’s ongoing Smart City Roadmap 2030, a long-term urban governance project developed alongside the DoST to integrate digital technology into local public services.
