Slain student’s family cries for justice

MISAMIS ORIENTAL — Residents and community leaders are demanding a full investigation and swift accountability following the fatal campus shooting of a student inside Banga National High School.

The victim, identified as Chaldean Lubaton, was shot and killed inside school premises, sparking local outrage and urgent calls for enhanced safety protocols in educational institutions across the municipality.

Family members and school administrators confirmed that funeral services for Lubaton will take place on 3 October 2026.

“We continue to affirm our call for justice for Chaldean and for a safer, more compassionate, and peaceful community for our children and youth,” school officials and community representatives said in a joint statement.

“We entrust her to the loving arms of God, with faith in the Resurrection and the promise of eternal life,” they added.

Advocates urged law enforcement authorities to expedite the investigation, identify all parties responsible, and bring formal charges before the court.
