Aurora dengue cases now at 2,299

The Provincial Government, thru its Provincial Health Office (PHO), has recorded 89 new cases of dengue that brought up the current number to 2,299 as of 19 September 2026.

In a recent post by the provincial government, the 2,299 dengue cases is 145 percent higher from the same period last year, recording on 940 cases in 2025. The PHO also recorded seven deaths related to dengue, recording a case fatality rate of 2.1 percent.

The recorded age of people who contracted dengue ranged from 1 month old up to 104 years old, with a median age of 12 years. The total number of case include those of one to ten years old with 968 cases or 42 percent, while 50 percent of the total number of cases were 1,161 men.

Maria Aurora has recorded the highest number of cases with 507, while Dilasag has the highest number of attack rate with 23.5 cases per 1,000 population.

The provincial government has urged the people of Aurora to follow the 5S Kontra Dengue program to protect their families and communities against dengue.

The 5S include Search and Destroy, finding the mosquito nest and removed it from the area; Self-Protection Measures, use mosquito nets, insect repellent, and wear long sleeved shirt; Seek Early Consultation if there are dengue symptoms; Support Fogging; and Sustain Hydration by drinking water.

Dengue is a mosquito-borne viral infection spread by infected Aedes mosquitoes, common in tropical and subtropical regions. Symptoms include high fever up to 40°C (104°F), severe headache and pain behind the eyes, muscle, bone, and joint pain, nausea, vomiting, and skin rash.
