TCS extends Jaguar Formula E deal

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has renewed its title partnership with Jaguar TCS Racing under a multi-year agreement that will also make the technology company the team’s official artificial intelligence partner.

The agreement comes as Jaguar TCS Racing prepares for Formula E’s GEN4 era after winning the 2025/26 ABB FIA Formula E Teams’ World Championship. The team ended the season with four victories and 10 podium finishes.

TCS and Jaguar TCS Racing have worked together for five years. During that period, the team won the Formula E Teams’ World Championship in 2024 and again in 2026.

TCS global chief marketing officer Abhinav Kumar said the renewed agreement will allow the partners to make greater use of AI and other technologies as Jaguar TCS Racing enters the next phase of Formula E.

JLR Motorsport chairman Chris Thorp said data and AI will play a larger role in motorsport performance as the championship adopts the GEN4 regulations.

TCS and Jaguar TCS Racing have used cloud services and digital twin systems to help engineers assess changes before they are introduced to the race car.

One of those tools is the TCS Virtual Vehicle Validation Model, or V3M. It allows engineers to validate software changes and run simulations when track time is limited.

Jaguar returned to motorsport in 2016 when it entered Formula E as the first luxury manufacturer in the all-electric championship. The team has since recorded more than 20 race victories and over 60 podium finishes.

Its latest car, the Jaguar I-TYPE 7, competed during the GEN3 Evo period. Jaguar TCS Racing collected 10 wins across Seasons 11 and 12, the most among teams during that stage of the regulations.

Jaguar has already committed to Formula E’s GEN4 era, which will cover Seasons 13 to 16. The manufacturer develops its own powertrain, transmission, inverter and rear suspension for the championship.

Jaguar will also supply GEN4 powertrains to the Paysafe Envision Formula E Team and Fortescue Zero Racing.

The 2026/27 season will feature António Félix da Costa in his second year with Jaguar TCS Racing. His new teammate has yet to be announced. Ian James will continue as team principal.
