Stabbings leave 1 dead, 1 hurt

Separate stabbing incidents in Cavite and Batangas left one man dead and another injured over the weekend, police reported.

In Bacoor City, Cavite, a 61-year-old gatekeeper was killed in Barangay Queensrow Central on Saturday afternoon.

Police said the victim figured in an argument with one of the suspects, reportedly over jealousy. A witness told investigators that one suspect stabbed the victim while two others restrained him.

The suspects then fled on a motorcycle, police said.

A follow-up operation led to the arrest of one suspect, while two others remained at large. Investigators were reviewing CCTV footage and conducting follow-up operations to locate the other suspects.

In a separate incident in Batangas City early Sunday, a 38-year-old man was stabbed in the left shoulder with a pair of pointed scissors during a drinking session in Barangay Gulod Itaas.

Initial investigation showed that the suspect and the victim had attended a birthday gathering. The suspect reportedly left the gathering and later returned before attacking the victim.

The injured man was taken to Batangas Health Care Hospital–Jesus of Nazareth for treatment.

Police said the 21-year-old suspect fled on foot but later voluntarily surrendered at the Batangas City police station at around 3 a.m.

Authorities were preparing the appropriate criminal complaint for filing with the city prosecutor’s office.
