Robin Padilla announces Rene Baterbonia biopic

A film about athlete Rene Baterbonia is in the works.

Senator Robin Padilla announced it himself via a recent Facebook post.

"Assalamu Alaikum! Kahit ginigipit na po tayo. Kahit sa usaping pinansyal ng mga mapaniil na mga nagsasabing sila ay matitinong tao at pati mundo ng industriya ng entertainment ay kanilang pinupolitika. Hindi po tayo bumibitaw sa paglalahad sa pamamagitan ng pelikula ang buhay ni Rene Baterbonia (Even though we're pressured financially by those oppressive people who say they are good people and politicize the entertainment industry. We're not giving up by on a film about Rene Baterbonia)," he announced.

"All set na si direk BB Gandanghari at mga film makers ng Mindanao (BB Gandanghari and film makers in Mindanao are all set),"he added.

This early, fans are already waiting for the film.

"Aabangan po namin ang pelikula... nakakahanga ang naging buhay ni Rene. Palagi ko siyang binabanggit na halimbawa sa mga estudyante ko. Madaming aral ang mapupulot ng kabataan sa kanyang naging buhay (We will wait for the film. Rene's life is so inspiring. I always mention him as an example to my students. The youth can pick up many lessons about his life),” one fan said.

"Panonoorin ko 'yan humanga ako sa batang 'yan kasi sobrang family oriented niya at marespeto sa mga magulang niya at down to earth ang kabaitan niya bihira nalang 'yung ganyang anak (I will watch it. I admire that young guy because he's family oriented and very respectful of his parents and down to earth, his kindness, there's just a few who were like that),” another fan wrote.

Baterbonia and Divine Adili, a Nigerian, were student athletes of the Ateneo Blue Eagles at Ateneo de Manila University. Both drowned during a training activity at a beach resort in Dipaculao, Aurora on 8 June.

"So, with a little bit of sadness — but also with a lot of gratitude — we are offering our beloved holiday home in Baler, Aurora for sale," she added.

"We hope to find an owner who will see what we saw in it: not just a property, but a place with warmth, character, and so much potential," she wished as "we have made so many memories here, and now we are ready to pass the keys — and the opportunity to create many more — to someone new."

'The Loyalty Game' levels up

Viewers who followed every twist of The Loyalty Game on Prime Video have more secrets to uncover as its more immersive version, The Loyalty Game: Level Up, premieres 5 October.

The ABS-CBN series offers a fuller and richer viewing experience through additional scenes, extended storylines, and character backstories not seen in the Prime Video version.

Audiences can also get ahead of the story on iWant, which will stream each episode seven days before its television airing.

At the center of the series are married couple Ben and Ana, played by Jericho Rosales and Janine Gutierrez. Their seemingly stable relationship begins to unravel when a test of loyalty exposes dangerous secrets.

Rosales teased that the expanded version will reveal more layers to the characters and their relationships.

“There would be more twists, and the plots and backstories are fleshed out. Mas magandang viewing pleasure,” he said during the show’s media conference.

Gutierrez shared that viewers will finally learn more about the loyalty testers, whose stories left audiences with questions after watching the Prime Video series.

“Maraming madadagdag na scenes sa loyalty testers. Excited akong mapanood sila. Ang daming nagtatanong anong nangyari sa kanila, so ’yung mga nakapanood sa Prime, masasagot ’yung questions nila (There were many scenes added to loyalty testers. I'm excited to watch them. Many were asking what happened to them so whoever has watched it on Prime, their questions will be answered),” she added.
