Remains of Filipino seafarer killed in Dubai tanker incident repatriated

The remains of a Filipino seafarer who died after an unidentified projectile struck the oil tanker M/T Hercules Star at the Dubai Delta Anchorage on 9 September were repatriated to the Philippines on Saturday, 26 September.

The remains arrived aboard Emirates Flight EK332 at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 in Pasay City.

The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration and the Department of Migrant Workers coordinated with relevant agencies and the local manning agency to facilitate the processing and transport of the seafarer’s remains to his family.

OWWA said it continues to coordinate with the family and provide welfare assistance and other support through its regional office.

The agency also extended condolences to the seafarer’s family and said it would continue assisting them in the coming days.
