Pioneer rolls out new A Series multimedia receivers

Pioneer Electronics AsiaCentre has introduced two new A Series multimedia receivers in the Philippines, with both models offering larger touchscreens, wireless smartphone connectivity and upgraded sound controls.

The new DMH-AP6850BT comes with a 9-inch display, while the DMH-AP8850BT gets a 10-inch screen. Both use WSVGA capacitive touch panels with a 1024 x 600 resolution and are designed to fit aftermarket dashboard panels with a more integrated appearance.

Wireless and wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard on both units. Pioneer also includes WebLink Cast and WebLink Browser. The smaller AP6850BT uses wired WebLink Cast, while the AP8850BT supports both wireless and wired connections.

The two receivers also share a 64-bit AKM AK7604 digital sound processor, a 13-band graphic equalizer and Pioneer’s sound tuning controls. A MOSFET amplifier rated at 50 watts across four channels is paired with three 4V RCA pre-outs for owners who want to add amplifiers or other audio equipment.

Pioneer fitted both models with Bluetooth and built-in 5GHz WiFi. The AP6850BT uses Bluetooth 5.3, while the AP8850BT gets Bluetooth 5.4.

CONNECTIVITY includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on the Pioneer DMH-AP6850BT’s 9-inch touchscreen.

The larger AP8850BT also has four physical controls for Home, Voice Command and volume adjustment. Its 10-inch screen gives drivers a larger interface for smartphone functions and other controls. Waze can also be accessed through Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.

Camera support is another feature shared by the two receivers. Both can work with a 360-degree panoramic camera through an optional adapter. A rear camera input is also included, with parking guidelines displayed on the screen.

Selected CAN Bus systems from Hiworld, Raise and SimpleSoft are supported as well. Depending on the vehicle and interface used, this can allow information such as climate settings, fuel data, service alerts, and vehicle gauges to appear on the receiver display. Steering wheel controls are also supported.

Other common features include USB quick charging and playback support for several audio and video formats, including FLAC and H.264.

The main differences come down to screen size and several connectivity details. The AP6850BT uses a 9-inch display and a one-touch direct key for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The AP8850BT gets the 10-inch panel, Bluetooth 5.4, wireless WebLink Cast, and four dedicated control buttons.
