Retired Army soldier shot dead
Initial police reports said the victim was getting out of the vehicle to open the gate when one of two suspects approached and shot him.
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — Unidentified gunmen shot and killed a retired Army soldier while he was about to open the gate of a compound in Sito Bongton, Barangay Camaman-an, shortly before noon Friday.
The victim, who worked as a security driver for a prominent lawyer, was driving a Toyota Innova and had just returned from an errand when the attack occurred.
Initial police reports said the victim was getting out of the vehicle to open the gate when one of two suspects approached and shot him.
The suspects fled aboard a black Yamaha Sniper motorcycle without a license plate. The driver was wearing a black jacket, while the back rider was dressed in maroon clothing.
Personnel from the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office’s Police Station 2 immediately responded and secured the crime scene.
Police found the victim with a gunshot wound to the head. The Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) team also processed the area for evidence.
Police said a full investigation is underway, with intelligence operatives conducting follow-up operations to identify, locate and arrest the suspects.
Police appealed to witnesses and anyone with information about the shooting, including those who may have seen the motorcycle or suspects, to contact COCPO or Police Station 2.
