Valenzuela blaze victims receive needed aid

Senator Christopher “Bong” Go dispatched a relief team to assist 53 families affected by a recent fire in Barangay General de Leon, Valenzuela City, while calling for stronger fire prevention and disaster preparedness measures nationwide.

During a video call with victims at the Barangay General de Leon Covered Court, Go emphasized the value of human life over material loss and pledged continued government support for affected residents.

“Property and money can be recovered through hard work, but human life cannot be replaced,” Go said. “What matters most is that everyone is safe.”

Go highlighted legislative efforts aimed at improving disaster response infrastructure, citing Republic Act 12076, or the Ligtas Pinoy Centers Act, which mandates the construction of fully equipped, permanent evacuation centers in every city and municipality.

He also cited the implementation of Republic Act 11589, the Bureau of Fire Protection Modernization Act of 2021, which provides upgraded firefighting equipment, specialized personnel training, and expanded operational support for local fire stations.

During the distribution, Go’s staff provided financial assistance, food packs, water containers, vitamins, clothing and sports equipment to the 53 affected households.

Select beneficiaries also received bicycles and footwear.
