Shabu seized in Northern Samar provincial jail

TACLOBAN CITY — Seven heat-sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shabu were recovered during a joint Oplan Greyhound operation at the Northern Samar Provincial Jail on 23 September.

Northern Samar Police Provincial Office Director Col. George Buyacao said the suspected drugs were found in the possession of a 33-year-old person deprived of liberty who is classified by police as a high-value target.

The operation was conducted by the Bobon Municipal Police Station in coordination with the Northern Samar Provincial Jail, the Provincial Intelligence Unit and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 8-Northern Samar Provincial Office.

Buyacao said the operation was part of continuing efforts to prevent the entry and proliferation of illegal drugs and other contraband inside detention facilities.

The recovered items were subjected to inventory and documentation procedures, while appropriate charges were filed for further legal proceedings.

“This successful operation highlights the importance of vigilance and strong inter-agency coordination in combating illegal drugs. We commend all personnel involved and reaffirm our commitment to strengthening anti-illegal drug efforts and ensuring the safety and security of our detention facilities,” Buyacao said.

He also urged the public to provide authorities with timely and accurate information on illegal drug activities and other criminal concerns.

Buyacao said the provincial police, together with partner law enforcement agencies, would continue strengthening coordination and anti-drug operations in Northern Samar.
