NCRPO receives new motorcycle fleet

Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla and National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Brig. Gen. Christopher Abrahano led the handover of 73 new emergency response motorcycles at Camp Bagong Diwa.

The motorcycles were distributed to police districts and stations across Metro Manila to support the unified 911 emergency hotline system, particularly in congested urban areas where larger patrol cars face traffic delays.

“In Metro Manila, with narrow streets and heavy traffic, police cars are not as effective as motorcycles,” Remulla said. “Instead of spending 10 times more on a police car, we decided to invest in scooters that can respond immediately.”

Under the distribution plan, the Eastern Police District received 24 units — including 14 for Taguig and 10 for Pasig — while the Manila Police District and Southern Police District Pasay station each received 18. The Quezon City Police District received 13 units.

Remulla noted that the deployment is part of a five-year fleet management program for the Philippine National Police, adding that a similar distribution was previously conducted in Region 6.

Abrahano stated that the additional units will improve operational mobility and reduce response times as the holiday season approaches.
